Welcome to the 4th Asia Pacific Regional Congress of the International Association for Dental Research
On behalf of the Local Organising Committee I would like to extend a warm welcome to all delegates and guests attending the 4th Asia Pacific Regional (APR) Congress of the International Association for Dental Research in sunny Brisbane, Australia.
The Australian and New Zealand Division is honoured to be hosting this meeting. It is the first time the APR Congress has been held in the ANZ Division, and we thank all APR Board members and delegates for supporting this. Like many meetings, there has been a long lead time to organising this Congress. Many people were initially involved with the bid to secure the meeting rights in Australia, and in that regards I would like to specifically acknowledge Professor Lindsay Richards, Past President of the IADR ANZ Division for supporting me during that process. Our current IADR ANZ President, Professor Boyen Huang, and his executive team are equally supportive and are working closely with the Local Organising Committee to ensure the meeting’s success.
The scientific programme under the leadership of Professor Saso Ivanovski, is packed with international and regional speakers, in a format that accommodates plenary, symposia and open oral sessions in addition to poster presentations. I am particularly indebted to the numerous invited guest speakers who contribute generously to the programme, and our regional colleagues who are partaking in organised sessions to reflect the research strengths of the APR and its Divisions. You will note that all streams are well represented by APR delegates, making this meeting truly regional. I’m sure this will be a key attraction for delegates. We are particularly honoured to welcome Professors Jack Ferracane, Jerry Feng and Raman Bedi as international speakers.
As I welcome you to the 4th APR Congress, I am grateful for the contributions of the Local Organising Committee, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Tourism & Events Queensland, and Arinex our professional conference organiser.
I look forward to welcoming you all to Brisbane, and I hope you will take the time to explore beautiful Queensland, and perhaps a little further afield in Australia and New Zealand if you have the time.
Camile S. Farah
Chair, Local Organising Committee, 4th IADR Asia Pacific Regional Congress
